Beloved Land wins ACT Book Of The Year

Congratulations to Gordon Peake, whose book Beloved Land: stories, secrets, and struggles from Timor Lestehas won the 2014 ACT Book of the Year. Chosen from a shortlist of five books, it also won the inaugural People’s Choice Award.

The judges described it as a ‘compelling work merging the personal with the historical. Deftly written, it explores human complexity without judgement. Through a powerful narrative the imagery created is surprising, sometimes confronting and very poignant.’
